PROFESSIONAL QUANTITY SURVEYING  PRACTICE

Established in 1986.

Two fully qualified and registered quantity surveyors (both with B Sc QS and B Comm Law degrees) handling all Projects.

All work is processed on computer using various specialised packages.

The contracts used are generally the standard JBCC suite of Contracts and the practice offers in depth knowledge on Contract Law and Contract Documentation.

FIELDS OF OPERATION

The practice delivers quantity surveying services in all fields of construction, Public and Private as well as both Civil and Building projects.  We offer a full spectrum of services from estimating and feasibility studies through to tender documentation, contract administration and final account work.  Contract administration and financial control are our strength.

During the past five years our major involvement has been in projects entailing the sourcing and refurbishment of existing office space for new tenants than new construction projects.

Project management, arbitration, mediation and valuation services are offered where required.

Until early 2009 when SASOL implemented huge cutbacks in capital expenditure other than at plants we did the refurbishment of all new offices leased in Rosebank and Randburg.

Other clients refurbishments where QS services and financial control were handled by ourselves include:

SSI Engineers and Environmental Consultants – Woodmead & Pretoria

Knight Piesold Consulting – Rivonia & Westville

MISSION STATEMENT

“TO OPTIMISE THE CLIENT’S FINANCIAL RETURN FROM A BUILDING PROJECT WITHOUT COMPROMISING AESTHETICS, QUALITY OR CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMME”

We believe that each project is unique and every client has his own particular requirements and expectations from any proposed building project/development. To ensure a successful project the professional team, in conjunction with the Client, must prepare a comprehensive brief which is then translated into a design concept within the approved budget and time frame.

Once this has been formalised the professional team can embark on the process of planning, programming, design co-ordination, tendering, construction and close out of the completed project.   During this phase it is imperative that all professionals work in close collaboration with each other and the client  to continually monitor the quality and optimise the cost and effectiveness of the project.

All additional requirements or design/specification changes must be carefully considered, evaluated and reported on as far as possible before being implemented.   This requires a “hands-on” approach by the entire professional team and continuity of the individual professionals from conception to completion of the project.

The building industry functions in a dynamic environment where change and technological development are rapid and dramatic.   These forces must be fully embraced to create innovative yet functional developments which are based on the solid foundations laid in the built environment over the past century.

FUTURE VISION:

We have always believed in conserving and restoring the built legacy of the past wherever possible and that one should consider refurbishment rather than demolish and replacement of buildings wherever possible in feasibility studies.

The explosion of development, manufacturing and consumption in the past fifty years has put enormous strain on our planet’s resources and environment and the future focus is now on sustainable and responsible development with a focus on research and development to reverse the damage of the past.  We are fully committed to our role in the built environment in this regard.
